Carolina Panthers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Preview

Week 13 of the 2012-2013 NFL season is set to get rolling, and one match-up that many people probably won’t have much to say about is between two of the bottom teams in the standings in the Carolina Panthers and the Kansas City Chiefs. While these two teams don’t make up the best game to watch, it could be a great option for NFL bettors out there. The Panthers and Chiefs both had playoff hopes when the season began, but have failed to live up to the expectations. The Panthers are currently sitting at 3-8, while the Chiefs are a painful 1-10, and hold the worst record in the NFL right now. For Carolina, they are at least coming off of a win in Philadelphia, as the Chiefs on the other hand have lost eight straight games and simply look poised for the first pick. Kickoff for this one is at 1:00pm EST, and the game will be held in Kansas City.

Cam Newton Is Rollin

Cam Newton was back to last season’s form in the Panthers’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football last week. He was absolutely electric, and this is the Cam that fans have been waiting to see this year. The Panthers as a whole played solid too, and while I don’t think that this one win is going to be parlayed into a crazy run to 8-8 and potential playoff berth, I do think that they are showing signs of heading in the right direction. The defense really needs to step up though, and I think that they will key in on stopping the Chiefs’ run game.

Can the Chiefs Get Consistant Play?

The Chiefs are still trying to find some type of consistent passing game to try to help take some of the pressure off of Jamaal Charles and the rest of the run game. Charles had a good game last week, but unless he can get some help from Brady Quinn (or Matt Cassel when he’s in) then it’s not going to matter much, and won’t result in the Chiefs winning any games. I think that the Chiefs better have a nice offensive game plan against the average Panthers defense, and if they don’t then we can go ahead and write this game off as the ninth straight loss.

Carolina Panthers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Prediction

The Panthers come into this game, on the road, as -2.5 favorites. While both of these teams have struggled this year, there’s no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs have struggled more. They are prepared for that first pick, and they just can’t seem to get anything going on offense. Don’t expect that to change over night either, as I think that the Panthers offense is going to be able to do enough to knock off the Chiefs on Sunday. It’ll be close for a good chunk of the game though in my opinion, as the Chiefs defense has shown that they can keep things competitive, but in the end I think that turnovers will hurt the Chiefs and that the Panthers will win it by a touchdown while covering the -2.5 spread.
