Baltimore Ravens vs. San Diego Chargers Preview

Sunday’s small slate of games due to Thanksgiving features two AFC teams going at it, one of which has a solid two game lead over the top of their division in the Baltimore Ravens, while the other one is the struggling San Diego Chargers, who are 4-6, have lost two in a row, and really need to get things going if they want to have any chance at a playoff spot this season. On top of all of this, they’ll probably need a win against the 8-2 Ravens in order to keep some serious changes being made in the offseason, but that still may not be enough when all is said and done. Trouble is brewing in San Diego right now after the recent struggles, and the Ravens are coming off of a road win against their biggest rival in the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game kicks off at 4:05pm EST on Sunday and it will be played in San Diego.

Ravens Playing A+ Football

Even though the Ravens have suffered some injuries this season, they are still looking like one of the more talented teams out there, especially on defense. The Ravens are definitely one of the best coached teams in the NFL with Jim Harbaugh, but they really need to get their offense going, as last week was a tough showing for them. This should include more Ray Rice, and especially more screen passes to Rice. The defense will be without Ed Reed this week also who was suspended one game for repeat violations of player safety, so someone else is going to need to step it up for the defense yet again, just as they’ve done all year.

Is Philip Rivers Ready For This Game?

The Chargers on the other side need to stop turning the ball over. Philip Rivers has had some brutal interceptions so far this season, and if he can’t cut down the turnovers then the Chargers won’t only be in trouble in this game, but throughout the remainder of the season as well. They should focus on getting the ball to their stud back in Ryan Mathews as well, but also sticking with shorter passes that can keep the team out of trouble and keep them from giving the ball away to a Ravens’ defense who looks for turnovers whenever they have any shot at one.

Baltimore Ravens vs. San Diego Chargers Betting Prediction

The betting odds on this game are a pickem (tossup). I know that the Chargers are at home on Sunday, and that this gives them a slight edge, but I’m simply not a believer. Too many turnovers, too many mistakes, and definitely not a strong enough offense to be able to beat the Ravens. The Ravens offense should also be able to put points on the board against this Chargers’ defense who has shown some weaknesses over the past few weeks. Don’t be surprised to see the Ravens win it by a touchdown or more, even though they are on the road in a hostile environment in San Diego. I’m picking Baltimore by seven so bet on Baltimore to win the game.
